Happy Father's Day

This last week we definitely ate pineapple...our winco had them on sale for 98 cents each I think...so we got 2 pineapples two weeks in a row...but we didn't have any oranges.  This is probably where our problems started.  Jared didn't feel well most of the week....and I didn't for part too.  Monday Bradley and Connor both went to the doctor for well child checks.  They are both doing well.  Connor is right at the 50th percentile for height (25 inches) and closer to the 25th for weight (14lbs 3oz).  Brad is between the 10th and 25th for height (35 inches) and a little under the 50th for weight (30lbs).  I had Lauren and Jared weighed too since they were there.  Lauren was 38lbs and Jared was 45lbs.  Jared didn't eat much all week so I'm curious what he weighs now.  While we were there Lauren showed the doctor a little bump on her hand that I thought was a wart...He said it might be a wart but it could be something else that is pretty contagious...He checked the rest of her body for little bumps, but she only had the one.  He froze it off for her while we were there.

That afternoon we played outside for a while.  Probably close to 4:30 a water main broke by our laundry.  We went to to see where it had broken and water was bubbling up out of the side of the sidewalk and in spots where they had patched the asphalt.  Water was also making the grass balloon up in a spot.  You could walk on it and it felt kind of like walking on a water bed...some kids were even jumping on it.  Our water was shut off for a couple of hours that night, but they left it on mostly while they fixed it.

Hard to see the grass bubbling up in the picture...

After the grass had split and the water started coming up...

Watching them get ready for the crew who would fix the break

Tuesday we went to the library.  They got to make fun little pizzas with yarn cheese and a few pompom sausages.  We tried to give another car a jump start when leaving but their car wouldn't take the start.  I didn't know how to pop the hood open, so I tried calling Alan...he wasn't in the lab right then, but one of his lab mates googled it for me and we were able to figure it out.   Jared was felling pretty yucky by the afternoon and just laid around.

Just playing...

Wednesday Jared and I both felt bad...mine was just starting.  We played outside a lot of the afternoon so Jared could have it nice and quiet to rest.

Thursday I was pretty wiped out.  Jared was starting to feel a little better.  Connor didn't sleep well the night before so that didn't help (one of the few times he hasn't ).  We did venture out to walmart to get some tulle and ribbon so I could make a tutu for a little girl's birthday...I don't know what I was thinking...I sewed the tutu that night.  In the afternoon we did more of what we had done on Wednesday.

A simple 'stuffed' tutu with flowers inside...

By Friday we were both feeling better, but I was losing my voice.  Lauren and Bradley went to a birthday party in the morning.  Jared wanted something fun to do while they were gone.  My sewing machine was still set up and he had an idea of something to sew...it is for Laurens birthday so it is top secret...but it turned out super cute!!!!  Friday afternoon we walked down to the museum of art.  They were having a family art festival as part of their Beauty and Belief exhibit.  They had people throughout the exhibit telling more about it, a guy writing names in Arabic, some people playing music and dancers, a couple of crafts, and a storyteller.  It was all pretty fun.  We saw Jeff and Elizabeth's mom and sisters, Stephanie and Jessica, who are here visiting right now, at the museum too.  Alan worked on some robots in the evening.

Some of the fun things Brad got at the party

Yesterday I really had no voice.  We spent all day just hanging out around here trying to get better.  In the morning Jared did more sewing...again an idea of his own.  He made blankets for some of their stuffed animals out of a piece of felt and some ribbon.   Alan made a trip to winco in the evening.

Everyone with their animals and new blankets

Today has been a nice Father's Day.  There weren't too many people at church, but it seemed like all the kids were there.  We played mystery dad for singing time (I asked 6 dads to come in, I had 7 songs ready to sing, and had 8 dads end up coming in...it went about 5 minutes over time)...and like someone commented they weren't sure if the kids or dads had more fun.  Alan got to take a long nap today after church and just have fun.  It was a good day.

Here's what our mystery dads wore...(Alan wanted a turn since he didn't get one in primary...I thought the kids would notice if he left.)

Everyone else wanted a turn too....

We will be eating more pineapple this week but not oranges...hopefully though it turns out better than last week.  Have a Wonderful orange-pineapple week!!!!!
