Thursday Jared got to have a safari at school. Everyone in his class had taken 2-3 stuffed animals that they were able to hunt for. His teacher had turned her classroom into a jungle with caves (tables stacked and covered with brown and green plastic table cloths), hanging flowers, and hanging monkeys. Jared said he had a great day at school. That night Alan took the kids to a microsoft information night...it said bring the whole family. They got to have pizza and build towers with spaghetti and marshmallows. They also brought home some bubbles and it seemed like they all had a good time. I went to my baby shower hosted by my visiting teachers. We played 2 games...the diaper game (guess which melted candy bar is in the diaper) and a memorization game (see a tray of 15 items with one min to look at them...then write down as many as you can remember).
Here is a kangaroo riding a motorcycle made of baby things...diaper tires, receiving blankets connecting the tires and making the handle bars (with socks), a bottle head light, and bibs for the seat and front fender.
Here is a cake someone in my ward made.
Here are two pictures that Jared drew for me of the baby. One is a girl and one is a boy. He drew them and then found his own bag and tissue paper to wrap them with...and made sure I took them with me. It was really cute. While he was drawing them (I was under strict orders not to look) I could hear Lauren giving him pointer for the features for the girl.
Friday I was in charge of playgroup. We talked about groundhogs day since it had been the day before. We talked a little about shadows and then read a story about groundhogs day. Then we made little groundhogs that could pop out of the ground...Ash made something similar in her class last year. (A groundhog picture taped to a straw...the straw was stuck through a dixie cup covered in brown or green paper to look like ground...so you can pull the groundhog down into the ground and have him pop back up.) All the kids really liked it...several even made an extra one to take to their dads. The rest of the day was spent playing in the basement (after playgroup) and then outside...then inside. Here is some of our play/ organizing we did inside.
Saturday morning we went to the home depot builder workshop...and just picked up the kits. We really didn't have time to go or make them, but I wanted to get some stuff to make a wreath so we went. Then we went to a birthday party in the basement. It was for my visiting teacher's little boy turning 4. They had a small bounce house and played pin the mask on Mr. Incredible, musical chairs, and had a batman pinata. They also got to eat pizza, cake and ice cream, and tons of strawberries and grapes (which was probably their favorite part..of the food) They had a great time. We had then planned to go to the women's basketball game, but the hospital and the doctor called and we had to wait for them to call back...We did go to the game, but we only made it for the last 5 seconds...and that's only because they were shooting free throws. Then we went to Michael's and then to Winco. We had a stake conference meeting at 6 which was really good.
Here is a picture of me from today...I took one in regular clothes, but it's not on the computer yet.
Today we had stake conference meeting and went on a walk. We also...well mostly Alan...did some last minute things to get ready for the baby. We are all super excited that tomorrow (it better be tomorrow) we will get to meet the newest member of our family!!!!! (and I'm sure I'll remember to take more pictures this week)
It looks like it was a fun week. What a great cake someone made for you!
